UNH Hospitality Management Students Host Casino NightBy Janet Lathrop UNH News Bureau February 19, 2000 UNH Hospitality Management Students Host Casino Night DURHAM, N.H. -- Casino Night, the popular event hosted by UNH business students studying casino management, will be held off campus next month at the Tin Palace in Durham on Monday, March 5, from 8 to 11 p.m. The event is open to the public. Whittemore School of Business and Economics students who have studied historic, business and social aspects of gaming in a course taught by Emery Trowbridge, associate professor of hospitality management, will be dealing blackjack and poker, shooting craps and spinning a roulette wheel as a class laboratory requirement. Proceeds of Casino Night help pay for a later class trip to Las Vegas. The multi-million dollar gaming industry has grown so rapidly, according to Trowbridge, that for students planning careers in hospitality management "a basic knowledge of gaming management is necessary in today's environment." |
