UNH Welcomes All to Homecoming 2000

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire will welcome alumni and friends back to campus for Homecoming weekend on Oct. 13-15 with a parade, receptions, music and a variety of athletic events.
The weekend will kick off with a Friday morning golf outing at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth, N.H. Call (603) 862-2038 to register. That evening, the Blue and White Parade will march from C-Lot to Cowell Stadium starting at 6 p.m. UNH Marching Band alumni are invited to join the parade. A pep rally, band concert and fireworks will follow.
Also on Friday evening, the UNH men's and women's basketball teams will host Midnight Madness with games, prizes and contests from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Lundholm Gymnasium. Admission is free.
Saturday, Oct. 14, will begin with a 5-K road race. (Call 862-2031 to register.) Tailgating areas will open at 9:30 a.m., with traditional tailgating in Boulder Field and non-alcoholic family tailgating in Lot A. The cost is $5 per car, and tailgaters must have a football game ticket. The Alumni Association will host a hospitality tent with free refreshments, live music and a special pre-game show in Mooradian Field. A free shuttle will provide transportation from the Elliott Alumni Center to Mooradian Field, starting at 10 a.m. The civil engineering and mechanical engineering departments are holding receptions before the football game. Civil engineering alumni should call 862-1440, and mechanical engineering alumni should call 862-1353 for more information.
The UNH football team will play the University of Richmond at noon in Cowell Stadium. Tickets will be available at Field House's box office. After the game, the Alumni Association will host a free "Afterglow" reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Elliott Alumni Center. Also following the game, a barbecue for alumni of color and Greek reunions are scheduled. The field hockey team will play at 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Field. At 8 p.m., a Homecoming Comedy Club will be held in the MUB, featuring stand-up comedians Quinn Collins and Christopher Edgerly. Admission is free. Also scheduled for Saturday evening is a banquet for UNH Marching Band alumni.
The weekend winds up on Sunday, Oct. 15, when the women's soccer team will play the University of Hartford, last year s America East champion, at 1 p.m. in Louis Field.
