Three Finalists Named for UNH Athletic Director Position

DURHAM, N.H. -- Three finalists have been named in the search for athletic director at the University of New Hampshire, and all will visit campus beginning next week. Tom Fairchild, professor of animal and nutritional sciences and chair of the search committee, announced the finalists today.

They are Eve Atkinson, director of athletics at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.; Dino Mattessich, senior associate director of athletics at the University of Maine; and V. Martin Scarano, director of athletics at The Colorado College.

According to Fairchild, the finalists were chosen from a national applicant pool of well qualified candidates. Faculty, staff, students and members of the public are invited to meet with the candidates on the following dates:

  • V. Martin Scarano, March 21, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

  • Eve Atkinson, March 23, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and

  • Dino Mattessich, March 30, 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.
  • All open forums will be held in the Trustees Board Room, located on the first floor of Thompson Hall. The committee hopes to make its recommendation to UNH President Joan Leitzel by mid-April. The new athletic director could be on board as early as July 1.
