Police Make Arrest in UNH Halloween Assault

DURHAM, N.H. – Police have arrested a 21-year-old Hudson man for the Halloween assault of a University of New Hampshire student. The University Police Department arrested Eric A. Hunt (DOB 10-17-88) of 5 Bruce Street, Hudson, on one felony charge of second degree assault, as well as one felony count of tampering with witnesses and informants. Hunt is not a UNH student. He turned himself into police today and was released on $20,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in Dover District Court Feb. 11, 2010, at 8:30 a.m.

This arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation by the University Police Department, with assistance from the Hudson, Manchester, Nashua, and Tilton police departments, as well as the Strafford County Attorney’s Office. The arrest of Hunt is the direct result of anonymous information provided to police, as well as a cooperative effort among law enforcement agencies. The incident remains under investigation but police allege Hunt was the primary assailant.
