University Police Make Arrest in Theft of Laptops

DURHAM, N.H. – The University Police Department arrested Robert J. Crossen (DOB 10-07-90) of 66 Woodland Road in Norwood, Mass., Dec. 17, 2009, on two felony charges of theft by unauthorized taking/transfer, as well as felony and misdemeanor charges of possession of controlled drug(s). Crossen, a UNH student, turned himself into police and was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in Dover District Court Feb. 11, 2010, at 8:30 a.m.

Police used footage from video surveillance cameras outside the dining hall area in Holloway Commons to identify Crossen after recently receiving two reports of stolen backpacks, containing laptop computers. The victims of these thefts, both students, had their backpacks stolen while they were eating in the dining hall. The thefts occurred as students were preparing for final exams this week.
