DURHAM, N.H. -- Mathletes from nine middle and junior high schools from around the Seacoast area are sharpening their math skills as they prepare for the annual regional MATHCOUNTS competition to be held at UNH Parsons/Iddles Hall, Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007.
MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide mathematics enrichment, coaching, and competition program designed to improve mathematic skills among U.S. students. More than six million students across the United States have participated in the MATHCOUNTS program.
The competition is co-hosted by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, the UNH College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and the state chapter National Society for Professional Engineers.
Seacoast MATHCOUNTS coaches have until Jan. 31, 2007 to contact April Duhaime at (603) 862-1943 or email@example.com with the total number of students they will be bringing.
MATHCOUNTS’s founding sponsors are the CNA Foundation, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. National sponsors also include ADC Foundation, General Motors Foundation, Lockheed Martin, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Texas Instruments Incorporated and 3M Foundation.
