Campus
invited to take national Web-based library survey
Beginning
March 29, UNH faculty, staff and students are invited to participate
in a national Web-based library survey.
Named LibQUAL+™, the survey is designed to define and measure
library service quality across academic institutions and to create
useful quality assessment tools. The survey measures library users’
perceptions of service quality and identifies gaps between desired,
perceived, and minimum expectations.
As participants in the program, the UNH libraries will be able to
analyze results, identify service strengths and weaknesses, and
utilize the information in its strategic planning process. LibQUAL+™
results will allow library staff to compare our service quality
with the more than 200 other academic and special libraries, develop
benchmarks, and identify best practices across institutions.
The survey consists of 27 questions to be answered three ways –
minimum, ideal, and perceived expectations. Eight additional questions
address information literacy or learning outcomes. Space is provided
for personal comments.
The survey takes 10 to 12 minutes to complete, and respondents identify
themselves by status and discipline. The survey is housed on a secure
server at Texas A & M University, and all responses are confidential.
Inclusion of e-mail addresses automatically places participants
in a random drawing for prizes.
The university libraries at Durham and the library at UNH-Manchester
are participating in LibQUAL+™ separately. If you do not receive
an e-mail invitation to participate by April 3, please go to the
respective library home pages at www.library.unh.edu/
or www.unhm.unh.edu/home.html.
