Celebrate
with Sharon Meeker
Friends of Sharon Meeker, extension specialist for NH Sea Grant
and UNH Cooperative Extension, are invited to a reception in her
honor from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 1, in the Windsor Charles
Room of the New England Center. Sharon is retiring this April after
23 years of service.
Cornucopia collecting for Easter
Cornucopia is collecting food baskets for the Easter season. Baskets
can be dropped off on April 6 or by noon on April 7 at the Campus
Ministry House, 15 Mill Rd. Volunteers are needed to sit at the
Cornucopia food pantry on Fridays from noon to 1 p.m. Contact Stephen
Luber at 2-1889 or stephen.luber@unh.edu.
Water main flushing planned
UNH and Durham plan to exercise all gate valve boxes and flush all
community water mains this spring. These procedures stir up sediment,
so some discoloration of the water may occur; however, the water
remains safe for drinking. Gate valve exercising and water main
flushing will be done from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. April 5 to May 1.
There will be no flushing during weekend hours. Info: Facilities
Support Center at 2-1437.
Recognition events set for May
The annual recognition programs for Operating Staff and PAT/Extension
Educators take place in May. Staff members will be honored for longevity
and excellence. Longevity is calculated by an employee reaching
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 or 40 years of service by May 31. Contact
Christina VanHorn at 2-0519 for information regarding either program
or if you should have received a letter and did not.
Cigna now covers Health Services
UNH employees covered by Cigna insurance can receive medical care
at Health Services for acute problems (urgent, immediate care but
not emergency) for which it might be difficult or inconvenient to
see your primary care provider. Examples include acute injuries
such as lacerations, initial treatment of burns, and falls, and
acute infections such as conjunctivitis, urinary tract infection,
and a severe sore throat. Employees will be directed to their primary
care providers to ensure continuity of care if they are seeking
services for non-acute needs or more involved health issues. http://www.unh.edu/health-services/facServices.htm.
Kidder Fund nominations due
Kidder Fund Award nominations are now being accepted for this year’s
Annual Pancake Breakfast Wednesday, April 7 from 8-10 a.m. in the
MUB Granite State Room. One staff member, one faculty member and
one student who, through their scholarship, leadership or outstanding
efforts, foster greater understanding of sexual orientation at UNH,
will be recognized. Contact 2-1058 or glbt.commission@unh.edu
for a nomination form. Nominations are due Monday, March 29.
