FYI
Jan. 23, 2004 Edition
Notice
to faculty and staff enrolled with CIGNA
As described by us in your 2004 Open Enrollment packet, we anticipated
CIGNA covering some limited services provided by UNH Health Services.
Unfortunately, implementation of this coverage by CIGNA has been
delayed. This means that faculty and staff who are participants
in CIGNA and choose to access UNH Health Services for acute care
will need to pay the full cost of service out-of-pocket. You will
receive additional information on available services and cost when
coverage is finalized through CIGNA. We apologize for any inconvenience
this may have caused.
Grant deadline approaching
The spring application deadline for the Irvine Professional Development
Grant is Feb. 1. The Irvine Grant is awarded twice yearly in the
amount of $250 in support of the professional development of UNH
administrative office professionals. All benefits-eligible UNH/UNHM
administrative office professional staff are eligible to apply after
one year of service. Grant opportunities might include workshops/classes
not covered by USNH tuition waivers and travel/accommodations for
off-campusprofessional development workshops. Grant criteria are
available with the application. For more information/questions about
the Irvine Grant and/or a grant application please visit http://www.unh.edu/hr/pod/learn-assist.htm
or contact Christina VanHorn at 2-0519.
Celebration for Jim Cerny is rescheduled for Jan. 27
Please join us Tuesday, Jan. 27, for a celebration in honor of Jim
Cerny’s career at the university. He joined the Geography
Department in 1973 and has been a member of the CIS Enterprise Computing
Group for the past 25 years. The event will be held from 3:30 to
5:30 p.m. in the 1925 Room, Elliott Alumni Center.
CPR/First Aid classes
The Campus Recreation Department is offering American Red Cross
CPR/First Aid classes to faculty and staff Friday, Jan. 23, noon-4
p.m., Adult CPR certification (1-year); and Friday, March 19, noon-4
p.m., Adult CPR certification (1-year). Classes are held in the
classroom of the Hamel Recreation Center in the Whittemore Center.
Info: 2-2031.
Clarification
The PAT and OS councils will not have a joint recognition awards
ceremony this spring. The Jan. 16 Campus Journal reported that the
PAT Council voted at its January meeting to join the OS Council
in a joint award ceremony following a request for the combined event
by the OS Council. However, Human Resources has determined that
this year would not be an option because of participant and audience
size, and logistical issues. The councils and Human Resources plan
to work on having a joint ceremony in 2005, which will provide enough
time to book an appropriate event site.
