Academic Plan incorporates diversity goals

As the UNH community has worked together on the Academic Plan for the past two years, diversity has always been at the forefront of campus discussions that naturally included input from faculty, students and staff. Because of the commitment and the involvement of the university community, the Academic Plan states the following:

The University of New Hampshire will be a community that actively seeks and welcomes a more diverse faculty, extension educators, staff and student body, and supports and values diversity.
Within this goal statement, there are several strategic actions the university remains committed to:

  • Identify, recruit and retain significant numbers of underrepresented group members;
  • Create orientation and mentoring programs for faculty and staff;
  • Develop promotion and tenure workshops with specific attention to minority, international and women faculty;
  • Increase resources, programs and activities that encourage diverse students to enter fields of study in which they are underrepresented;
  • Create a welcoming climate for and attract greater numbers of international and nontradtional students.
