Forty-one buildings on campus are switching to a green soap that has earned not just one but two environmental certifications.
GOJO Green Certified Foam Hand Cleaner is the first foam-style soap to meet Green Seal and EcoLogo standards for hand cleaners.
Products that bear the Green Seal and EcoLogo designations have been tested to assure they meet science-based environmental measures.
The foam soap is easier to clean up after compared to liquid soap, according to Tim Cullinan, manager of contracted cleaning for UNH.
“There isn’t the dripping you can get with liquid soaps,” Cullinan said of the biodegradable soap. “And it requires fewer refills.”
The new dispensers will be installed during Spring Break in several academic and administrative buildings as well as the rec department and the MUB. After an initial period, field testing will be done to assess customer satisfaction and cost savings.
Another green aspect of the soap: it’s hands free. Users don’t have to touch dispenser. And the cartridges are recyclable.
Using the green cleaner is just another piece of UNH’s sustainablity initiative, Cullinan said.
Previously, UNH replaced window, floor and shower cleaners with Green Seal-certified or Eco-label products that are natural or plant-based.
