The UNH Therapeutic Riding Program is seeking volunteers for its summer session,
which runs July 7 through August 22. Classes are Mondays 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays
8:30 to 11:30 a.m., and Fridays 2 to 5 p.m. Time commitments are flexible and
can be as little as 45 minutes, one day per week.
The Therapeutic Riding Program provides recreational and therapeutic activities
to children and adults with all varieties of physical, cognitive and emotional
disabilities. Volunteers have direct contact with students, helping to ensure
a safe and fun lesson environment, and helping students achieve their therapeutic
and educational goals. No prior experience with horses is necessary. Anyone
age 12 or up is welcome to participate.
A training and orientation session for new volunteers is Tuesday, June 10
at 5:30 p.m. in the Light Horse Classroom at the UNH Horse Barns. For further
information, please contact Cindy Burke at the Therapeutic Riding Program at
603-862-0131 or go to www.trp.unh.edu.
