The University of New Hampshire Foundation, Inc. and its board of directors
have announced the appointment of Peggy Sullivan as foundation president.
"Peggy brings an outstanding background of work developing and maintaining
strategic partnerships with corporations and foundations for the University
of New Hampshire," said Roger Thomas, chairman of the Board of Directors
for the UNH Foundation. "I have great confidence that she will guide the
UNH Foundation to outstanding success on behalf of the university."
Sullivan joined the Foundation in February 2005 as director of corporate and
foundation relations, and has been responsible for developing and maintaining
strategic partnerships, advocating for corporate engagements, exploring ways
to identify and enhance key relationships, and developing revenue opportunities
for the university.
"I am absolutely delighted that Peggy Sullivan has accepted the invitation
to lead the UNH Foundation," said President Mark Huddleston. "Peggy's
boundless energy, creativity, and can-do spirit, wedded to her deft 'people
skills,' are exactly what the foundation needs. I look forward to working with
her in creating a dynamic new culture of philanthropy at the University of
New Hampshire."
Prior to joining the UNH Foundation, Sullivan was a manager of government
and community relations for Comcast Cable. There, she was responsible for government
and community relations in the City of Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked
closely with the Office of Mayor Thomas Menino and the Boston City Council
on regulatory and government and community relations matters.
Sullivan said, "I am truly honored to serve as the president of the UNH
Foundation and am excited to work with President Huddleston, the foundation
board, and colleagues within the foundation and across campus to bring private
philanthropy to new levels of success. UNH deserves no less."
Previously, she served for five years in the Office of the Massachusetts Attorney
General Scott Harshbarger as the director of the Attorney General's Consumer
Information and Mediation Service. Sullivan has a bachelor's degree in sociology
and psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a post-graduate
certificate in paralegal studies from Bentley College.
The UNH Foundation, Inc. is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated
to increasing private support for the University of New Hampshire. Through
the thoughtful generosity of alumni and friends, the university has enhanced
learning opportunities for students, expanded its finest academic programs,
provided new resources for research, and strengthened the university's service
to the community, the region, and the world.
