President Huddleston Stops by Children's Sing-along
April 16, 2008
President Mark Huddleston stopped by Murkland Courtyard earlier today where
children from the Child Study and Development Center and other community daycares
were holding a sing-along in celebration of Week of the Young Child.
“The purpose of the event was to make children more visible so people
will see they are citizens of our community; contributors to our community,” said
John Nimmo, executive director of the Child Study and Development Center.

The second purpose, he said, was to draw attention to the need for more early
childhood education centers and more high quality early childhood education.
The whole week aims to “educate and inspire everyone to advocate for
children and teachers and the many people involved in early childhood education
all year long.”
“We also want to promote a strong image of children,” Nimmo said. “Children
are capable, they’re not just cute.”
