Graduate School of Oceanography, URI Award to Larry Mayer

The director of the UNH Center for Coastal Ocean Mapping/Joint
Hydrographic Center has been awarded the 2007 Distinguished Achievement
Award for Outstanding International Leadership in Ocean Mapping
from the University of Rhode Island.
Larry A. Mayer received the award from the Graduate School
of Oceanography during URI’s second annual distinguished
achievement awards and the celebration of the Making a Difference
Campaign held earlier this month.
Mayer received his Ph.D. from Scripps Institute of Oceanography
and an honorary doctorate from the University of Stockholm,
as well as the Keen Medal for Marine Geology. He also served
on the President’s Panel for Ocean Exploration.
