UNH Manchester completed an energy conservation project last year that improved the energy efficiency of the building and reduced emissions into the environment.
Bob Beecher, facilities manager, said the energy conservation plan started as an effort to be more efficient. The upgrade has created an individualized heating and cooling schedule for each room in the building. This modification will prevent unnecessary use of the heating, cooling, and pumping systems when the building or specific rooms are not in use.
In only 11 months, the updates at UNH Manchester have saved 392,000 kWh which reduced electric expenditure by approximately $55,700. In the last 7 months, the update has saved 9460 therms of natural gas, a saving of approximately $14,900, for a total cost savings of $70,600.
“Private and corporate support is critical to the future of UNH athletics,” he continued.
