President Announces United Way Campaign

October 23, 2006

Dear UNH community:

Your 2005 contributions to the United Way of the Greater Seacoast helped fund almost $2 million in grants that went to 79 non-profit agencies in the cities and towns where we live and work. Half of that money went toward four critical areas of need: health care, affordable housing, substance abuse, and transportation.

This year, the United Way Campaign at UNH, which begins November 1 and runs through November 22, has set a very attainable goal of $50,000 and 20 percent participation.

The effort is being led by a committed group of employees representing all the schools and departments on campus. Soon, they will begin distributing pledge forms and sharing information about this year’s campaign.

Your giving will impact programs in 45 cities and towns throughout the greater Seacoast and southern Maine. Such generosity helps strengthen our communities and brings people together to solve the problems of those in need.

The mission the United Way of the Greater Seacoast parallels much of what we work and strive for here at UNH: to change lives. Please give what you can. We can make a difference.

Payroll deductions are available for benefits-eligible employees. Hourly and temporary employees may be billed by United Way on a periodic basis. And, of course, any employee may make a one-time contribution.

If you do not receive a pledge form or need further information, you may contact Chris VanHorn at 862-0519, or e-mail her at chris.vanhorn@unh.edu

“Together, we get results that no one can accomplish alone.” Thank you for your support.

With best regards and appreciation,

J. Bonnie Newman
Interim President
