Did you know that Barnes & Noble donates $5,000 each academic year to outstanding library student workers (seniors, nominated by their supervisors) as an incentive to continue working in the library? This year, 10 students received $500 each to purchase their textbooks at the campus bookstore.

The library also receives revenue from all bookstore sales (textbooks, clothing, candy bars -- everything) and additional bonuses if faculty share their book lists with Barnes & Noble. The current sales volume ($3,000,000) means $186,000 to purchase materials for the collection this fiscal year and as sales increase, the library could receive up to $650,000.
Barnes & Noble also offers an incentive bonus -- an additional $100,000 this year – if at least 75% of the faculty share their book lists with the campus bookstore; book lists can be given to more than one vendor, including the Durham Book Exchange.
As of last May, 52% of UNH faculty gave their lists to Barnes & Noble.
If just 23% more share their lists this academic year, the library
will receive the $100,000 bonus. In future years, if at least
75% of the faculty continues to share their booklists with the
campus bookstore, the library will receive $50,000.
