Seven new members have been elected to the Professional, Administrative and Technical Staff Council with a 10th position yet to be decided.
The names of the representatives elected last month were revealed at the council’s Nov. 1 meeting. Of the 21 seats, which include the councilor at-large, 10 were up for grabs. Two councilors were re-elected while the District 12 race ended in a tie, leading to a yet-to-be determined run-off between Nancy Pearson and Lori Warriner.
New 2007-09 representatives include:
- District 7 Jon Plodzik
- District 9 Briana Sullivan
- District 11 Jennifer Scully
- District 13 Lisa Scigliano
- District 14 Tammy McGlone
- District 16 Rebecca Barbour
- District 17 Marcus Del Greco
In District 5, Larry Pignataro has replaced Yang Bai, who has left the university. Robert Anderson and Scott Bugbee were elected to serve a second term, in District 8 and District 21, respectively.
Officers will be voted on in December, the first official meeting for the new members.
During the meeting, there was a brief discussion on the longevity policy that provides operating staff members who have worked at UNH 10 years or more with yearly pay supplements. The range, in 2 percent increments, runs between two and 10 percent.
As of July 1, 2006, $922,541 had been paid to 516 employees.
PAT members questioned whether there was a more equitable way to compensate all workers, not just operating staff.
“We don’t want to disenfranchise anyone. I would
much prefer to discuss: what about us?” Phil Hammond said. “A
lot of PAT employees have longevity. There isn’t any longevity
pay for PAT. A discussion on where the numbers would fall down
would be a good starting point.”
