Campus Journal is officially announcing Mark Rubinstein as our new Campus Life photographer. This is a new position funded with no new dollars. In fact, it is funded with no dollars. Also, we haven’t told him yet because we’re afraid he would decline.
There is perhaps no one on campus more familiar with the details of hidden campus life than Rubinstein, vice president for student and academic services. And we’re not talking about his regular late-night weekend shifts with the UNH Police Department, though those are just as notorious to some of us.
If you have seen a guy with the crook of a walking cane in his back pocket in the shrubs near Hood House, intently photographing a bug, that would be Rubinstein. If you saw a guy with a camera in the Ravine after an early morning snowfall, that would be Rubinstein. If you’ve seen a guy photographing a red-breasted nuthatch near the top of a dead tree – yes, that’s Rubinstein.
Periodically, he sends us jpg’s of campus scenes. Our favorite was the cow he photographed on Valentine’s Day that had a white heart-shaped forehead. Today, we share with our readers some of his favorites, and plan to look for this feature regularly.
Some administrators teach, others work out at lunch-time. Rubinstein
stops and smells the flowers.
