The UNHM features immigration attorney Mona Movafaghi PC, as part of the Saul O Sidore Lecture Series, Through the Golden Doors - Immigration in the Twenty First Century. The lecture, “Immigration 2006 – New Hampshire and the Nation,” begins at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2006, in the 3rd floor auditorium.
Movafaghi will discuss the recent attempts by the New Hampshire State Legislature to draft laws to regulate immigration and several of the immigration bills currently before the U.S. Senate. She will also discuss the contributions, both documented and undocumented, that immigrants make to the U.S. economy.
Movafaghi holds a J.D. degree from Franklin Pierce Law Center. Prior to starting her own law firm, she practiced law for nine years at the firm of Scotch & Zalinsky in Manchester. There she practiced in the areas of immigration and insurance defense law. She also worked for several years with the immigration and nationality law firm of Kaplan, O'Sullivan and Friedman in Boston. She has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association since 1987.
