Financial Statement Analysis
Understanding and constructing basic financial statements. The workshop will use the financial statements of real companies, including those that have committed fraud. Participants will learn about the “red flags” that indicate possible fraudulent or misleading activity.
Investing in the Stock Market
Why invest? What are the objectives and constraints? How do you maximize return while minimizing risk? How do you set about investing in the stock markets? The workshop will examine real stock market data in order to develop possible investment strategies.
Retirement and Personal Finances
The application of the knowledge gained from the two previous workshops to major “life-event” financial decisions. How should you set up financial objectives and plans for specific purposes such as retirement, tuition expenses or house purchase? What methods should you use to control or reduce debt? What are the tax implications of social security benefits, and IRAs, and other savings?
