Members of the community are invited to join UNH Manchester librarians on Thursday, March 23rd from 7:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. in the library for a discussion about the book, The Manchurian Candidate, by Richard Condon. The conversation will focus on the literary work and how the screen adaptation contributes to an understanding of the novel.
The Manchurian Candidate is a Cold War-era classic about a Korean War hero and ex-POW who is brainwashed by the Chinese during his imprisonment. He returns home a “programmed” agent, and it’s up to his former commanding officer to stop him from carrying out his mission… The book has been adapted for the screen twice, first in a famed 1962 film version starring Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury, and again in a 2004 movie featuring Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, and Liev Schreiber.
This event is free and open to the public. The discussion will
take place in the library mezzanine located at 400 Commercial
Street in Manchester, NH. For more information about this
