By Kathy Mandsager, Coastal Response Research Center
The Coastal Response Research Center is inviting preliminary proposals for full project and “proof of concept” funding consideration. The Center was established in 2004 as a hub for spill research, development, and technical transfer. The Center is a partnership between the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Center collaborates with other federal, state and local research and development programs to promote effective protection and restoration of coastal areas and resources.
Up to $1.2 M (U.S.) is available to fund all projects selected under the 2006 Annual RFP solicitation. Eligible applicants may be affiliated with U.S. or international academic, governmental, non-profit, or private sector entities or institutions. The Center’s RFP process consists of a two-stage application process: 3-page preliminary proposals followed by 15-page invited full proposals; and a rigorous peer review process. Proposals recommended for funding are also reviewed by NOAA for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance prior to funding approval.
