URC ’06 Registration Underway
Faculty
and staff urged to encourage student participation Registration
is underway for the seventh-annual University-wide Undergraduate
Research Conference (URC ’06), which takes place April 21–29.
The URC event casts a spotlight on the research and scholarship
of undergraduates from all of UNH’s schools and colleges,
and features symposia, events, performances, and awards.
To participate, undergraduates or their faculty advisers must register
online by Friday, March 10 at: www.unh.edu/urc
All undergraduates from Durham and Manchester who have completed
or are engaged in a research, creative, service learning, or capstone
project are eligible and encouraged to take part. Awards, including
scholarships, will again be presented for outstanding projects.
Last year, 19 URC participants received scholarships and travel
grants for their award-winning work.
Faculty, teaching assistants, and staff members are urged to identify
and persuade eligible students to participate, as it provides students
the opportunity to prepare for and present research and scholarly
findings in a professional setting, gaining real-life experience,
as well as the recognition of peers, faculty, families, and the
general public.
Highlights of URC ’06 include the Interdisciplinary Science
& Engineering Symposium at Morse Hall featuring presentations
of engineering students’ capstone experiments and interdisciplinary
science research from departments across campus, and the return
of the Festival of Creativity and Culture, a coffeehouse-style hub
for vignettes of music, poetry, theatre, dance, art, and woodworking
exhibits.
