Welcomes New VP of Finance and Administration By Erika Mantz, Media Relations University of New Hampshire President Ann Weaver Hart today announced the appointment of Richard Cannon as Vice President for Finance and Administration. Cannon comes to UNH from Cambridge Hill Partners, where his practice focused on organizational development consulting for clients such as Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston College, Harvard, and Cornell. His appointment was approved by the USNH Board of Trustees' Executive Committee. He starts Jan. 11. Cannon replaces Candace Corvey, who retired Dec. 31, 2005. "I am delighted that Dick will be joining the executive team at UNH,” UNH President Ann Weaver Hart said. “Richard Cannon is superbly prepared to lead finance and administration so that we will be fully positioned to face new challenges and advance our vision for the University’s future. Cannon’s consulting experience includes core values/organizational change studies, diversity training, executive assessments of deans and vice presidents, executive coaching, and governance assessments in academic medical centers. Prior to joining Cambridge Hill, he spent 11 years at Harvard University’s School of Public Health as a dean and a member of the Department of Health Policy and Management teaching faculty. From 1988 to 1999 he served as dean for administration, where he was responsible for the school’s finances, human resource systems, information technology, facilities, and support services. During his tenure as dean, he worked with academic department chairs and senior faculty to coordinate and oversee that plans for academic program development, fiscal capabilities, and physical facilities were in synchrony. Before his work at Harvard, Cannon held executive positions in the health care field in Boston and New York. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Boston College. “I was very impressed during the interview process with the degree of collegiality at UNH and the commitment to quality in all aspects of university life,” Cannon said. “I look forward to joining President Hart’s team and supporting the faculty and students in the university’s important mission of learning, discovery and service.” |
