Music Presents NH Youth Band and UNH Wind Symphony

The Department of Music presents a concert with the NH Youth Band and the UNH Wind Symphony under the direction of Andrew Boysen Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 8 p.m. in the Johnson Theatre, PCAC.
The NH Youth Band, under the direction of Erika Svanoe and Mark DeTurk, will perform Variations On A Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance, Come, Sweet Deathby J. S. Bach, transcribed by Alfred Reed, Florentiner by Julius Fucik, and American Folk Rhapsody No. 1 by Clare Grundman.

The Wind Symphony program presents two world premieres. UNH graduate student, Timothy Miles, will conduct his own composition, Foucault’s Pendulum. Andrew Boysen’s composition, Concerto for Trombone and Wind Symphony, was inspired by John Steinbeck’s novella, The Pearl. Boysen composed the work specifically for UNH faculty member and freelance trombonist Nicholas Orovich and his very talented group of instrumentalists.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 2-2404.
