The Celebrity Series presents the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Johnson Theatre, PCAC.
Members of the quintet are flutist Michael Hasel, oboist Andreas Wittmann, clarinetist Walter Seyfarth, bassoonist Henning Trog, all of Germany, and horn player Fergus McWilliam, Scotland. The program includes Trois pièces brèves by Jacques Ibert, La Cheminée du roi René by Darius Milhaud, Quintet for Winds in G-minor by Paul Taffanel, Summer Music by Samuel Barber, and Quintet No. 2 by Jean Francaix.
The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet was founded in 1988. The spring 2006 North American tour will take the quintet to 11 cities, including New York, Toronto, Cleveland, Palm Beach, Louisville, Athens (University of Georgia), and Overland Park, KS.
