“The War Tapes”, Deborah Scranton’s documentary filmed by New Hampshire National Guardsmen while on active duty in Iraq, will be shown at The Music Hall Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7 and 8, at 7:30 p.m.
Scranton will introduce her film at Thursday’s showing, and, afterwards, answer audience questions.
By putting cameras directly in the hands of the soldiers on the ground, Scranton was able to capture an unfiltered, first person perspective of a soldier’s experience as no film ever has before.
One of those soldiers was UNH student Zack Bazzi, a Lebanese-American who served as cameraman. Bazzi will take questions after Friday’s showing.
According to Scranton, “I told them we would do this together. We would tell the story—their story—and go wherever it took us, no matter what. Ten soldiers volunteered. Zack Bazzi, Mike Moriarty, Steve Pink, Duncan Domey and Brandon Wilkins were the five soldiers that filmed the entire year. In total, 21 soldiers contributed to the project.”
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for seniors, students or military.
