Career Center Helps Faculty and Staff Help Students
The Career Center wants to remind faculty and staff members that
they provide classroom presentations for students on such topics
as finding an internship, resume writing, the art of networking and interviewing
skills.
CC works with instructors to customize presentations to suit student
needs. This fall, they will also host several special events, beginning with
Practice
Interview Day, on September 28th, in Hood House. A complete list

The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program will host informational
sessions Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1-4p.m. on Sept. 13 and14 and Sept. 20

UNH CopyNet Card upgrades to Cat's Cache system
Students can now use their Cat's Cache card to make copies and prints
with the upgrade of the CopyNet debit card to Cat’s Cache. To transfer
money from a CopyNet Card to a Cat’s Cache account, bring the card
to the Dining/ID Office, Holloway Commons, Room 101, Monday through Friday,
between 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Fund transfers will be made through the end of
Fall 2006 semester.
All UNH ID card holders automatically have a Cat’s Cache
account. Others may purchase a Cat’s Cache Guest Card.
Fund transfers can be made at:
- Cat’s Cache Account Management Machine (cash or credit
card)
- Online transfer from your credit card

Request for proposals
The UNH Center for the Humanities is now accepting applications
for the James H. Hayes and Claire Short Hayes Chair in the Humanities. The
Hayes Chair was established by James H. Hayes '32 and Claire Short Hayes
'34 and intended to be a focal point within the University for research and
teaching, concentrated on New Hampshire's history, culture and government.

NHEP Seeks Proposals
The New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP), in partnership with
the New Hampshire Coastal Program (NHCP), is requesting proposals from qualified
individuals or organizations to conduct activities that will result in the
completion of on-the-ground habitat restoration for multiple estuarine species
in the tidal waters of New Hampshire.
Total funding available for this grant is $120,000. The
NHEP expects to fund several restoration projects. An applicant
may submit a project proposal for any amount up to $120,000.
Nonfederal matching funds (cash or in-kind services) must
account for at least 20 percent of the total cost of the
project. NHEP funding for this program ($60,000) is provided
by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through an agreement
with the University of New Hampshire. The New Hampshire
Coastal Program is providing $60,000 of funds from NOAA.
Contracts will be executed between UNH and successful applicants
for projects selected for funding.
All project activities must be completed no later than
June 30, 2009.
It is recommended that applicants use the Great
Bay Estuarine Restoration Compendium (8.5MB/.pdf) to identify potential
restoration areas which would benefit multiple species.
An original proposal, five double-sided copies, and an
electronic version (PDF or Word formats) must be received
by Phil Trowbridge, NHEP Coastal Scientist, New Hampshire
Department of Environmental Services, P.O. Box 95, Concord,
NH 03301-0095, no later than 4:00 PM on November 1, 2006.
Faxed proposals will not be accepted. The electronic version
of the proposal may be emailed to ptrowbridge@des.state.nh.us,
however, hardcopies of the proposal must be submitted before
the deadline to be eligible for funding.

The UNH Upward Bound Program Announces Sponsorship of the Summer Food Service Program for Children
Ninety-one high-school students from the Seacoast, Manchester, and
North Conway areas of New Hampshire have already been selected to
participate in UNH's Upward Bound summer program
funded by the U.S. Department of Education. UNH Upward Bound announces
the sponsoring of the USDA Summer Food Service Program for children
administered by the NH Department of Education.
Meals will be provided to participants regardless of color, race,
sex, age, national origin, or disability. The Summer Food Service
Program will significantly supplement the cost
of meals for all Upward Bound students since at least two-thirds
of Upward Bound participants' families meet federal income-eligibility

New Hampshire Estuaries Project Accepting Project Proposals
The New Hampshire Estuaries Project (NHEP) is accepting project proposals for its
2007 Local Grants Program. This program funds projects that result in achievement
or significant progress toward achievement of one or more Action Plans described
in the NHEP Management
Plan. An applicant may submit a project proposal for up to
$10,000 of NHEP funds; however a 50 percent match is required (i.e., for each
NHEP dollar contributed to a project, fifty cents must be provided by the applicant
in the form of cash or in-kind services related to the project). All project
activities must begin in 2007 and be completed by June 30, 2008. Proposals must be
received no later than 4 p.m. October 17, 2006. NHEP funding for this program is
provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through an agreement with the
University of New Hampshire. Successful applicants will enter into a subaward
agreement with the University of New Hampshire. For more information, contact project
