Through the Office of Sustainability and its Climate Education Initiative, UNH has partnered with Proulx Oil and Propane of Newmarket to provide bioheat for home heating at a fixed price to University employees and students. This program is only available through September 1 and is in response to the economic challenges resulting from anticipated fluctuations of home heating oil prices and to the environmental and public health challenges occurring now from global climate change.
Bioheat (a mix of 20% biodiesel and 80% home heating oil) is being offered at a fixed price of $2.629 per gallon with no pre-buy requirement. Bioheat can be used in existing oil burning furnaces and accounts with no modification necessary and will be delivered premixed to the customer.
In addition, Proulx Oil will also donate $5 from each contract
signed to the trust fund established for the daughters of former
UNH Office of Sustainability Associate Director Crescentia Healy-True,
who passed away last March from breast cancer. Crescentia began
this association with Proulx last year and was a great supporter
of bio fuels and renewable energy resources.
