The Department of Music presents the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Robert W. Eshbach and the Concert Choir under the direction of guest conductor, Lisa Wolff, in concert Sunday, April 30, 2006, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Theatre.
The orchestra program will feature five talented undergraduate performers and one graduate school conductor. Concerto pour Batterie et Petit Orchestre by Darius Milhaud features John Mehrmann, percussion and Thomas Bourgault as conductor. Night Soliloquy by Kent Kennan highlights flutist, Heidi Bean, and Alleluja from Exsultate Jubilate, K. 165 by Mozart showcases soprano Jennifer Pomeroy. Clarinetist Ashley Creighton will perform the Rondo movement of von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in F minor, and Molly McCarthy, violin, concludes the orchestra’s program with a movement from Eduard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole, op. 21.
The Concert Choir, under the direction of guest conductor, Lisa Wolff, presents works for brass and chorus, including Johann Pachelbel’s Nun danket alle Gott, for chorus and brass quartet and John Rutter’s Gloria for chorus, brass, organ and percussion. Also on the program is Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, directed by graduate student Amy Kotsonis.
