UNH students William Errickson and Nina Harris have been honored by the Durham Garden Club for their dedication to the UNH Organic Garden Club and its outreach work with $1,000 checks for scholarships.
At the club’s April meeting, Donna Simpson, president of the Durham Garden Club, cited the club’s wish to honor the students’ “demonstrated commitment to the principles of sustainability and community.” Simpson presented Harris with the Margery Milne Memorial Scholarship. The Milne award is named in honor of the late internationally known naturalist and “Durham Swan Keeper” who was a long-term club member. Nationally recognized as an esteemed breeder of rhododendrons, Joe Parks presented his eponymous award, the Joe Parks Scholarship, to Errickson.
