UNHM Presents the Artwork of Connie Clanton, a New Hampshire Deaf Artist

The UNHMr American Sign Language Club and sign language interpretation program will host an art exhibit presenting the artwork of Connie Clanton, a New Hampshire deaf artist, Friday, April 28. The event is open to the public and will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the third floor auditorium.

Clanton will present and discuss her artwork, which reflects both her views of the natural world and her experience as a deaf person. Clanton says that her art “is the number one passion in my life.”  She will describe the variety of techniques she uses including oil, intaglio, collograph, as well as other techniques. Clanton will present her work in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpretation into spoken English.

The Sign Language Interpretation Program at UNHM provides students with a strong theoretical foundation as a generalist in American Sign Language English interpretation and helps prepare students for either state-level interpreter screening or national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) interpreter certification.

This event is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Jack Hoza, ASL Program Director, jack.hoza@unh.edu or call 603-641-4101.
