English Department Writers Series Presents Ann Beattie Sept. 15

The UNH English Department Writers Series presents areading by Ann Beattie, Thursday, Sept. 15, 5 to 6:30 p.m., Murkland 115, UNH.

A short story writer and one of the nation's most important fiction writers, Beattie has received critical acclaim for her depiction of the generation of Americans who grew up in the 1960s. She has published seven collections of short stories including Park City (1998), What Was Mine (1991), The Burning House (1982) and Follies (2005), and seven novels including My Life, Starring Dara Falcon (1997), Another You (1995), Picturing Will (1990), and Chilly Scenes of Winter (1976).

She has received numerous awards for her work including PEN/Bernard Malamud Award for excellence. Ann Beattie grew up in Washington, D.C. She and her husband, the artist Lincoln Perry, divide their time between Maine, Key West, Florida and Charlottesville, Virginia where she is Edgar Allan Poe Professor of Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Virginia.

The reading is free and open to the public. Books available for purchase and signing after the reading.
