| Tyco’s
Effort To Become A Model Of Corporate Governance Following Kozlowski
Scandal Is Focus Of UNH CEO Forum Nov. 3
By Lori Wright, Media Relations
Three years ago, Eric Pillmore joined Tyco International to transform
the company’s image following what Business Week called “one
of the most spectacular governance failures in history.” How
does a $40 billion company with 250,000 employees worldwide rebuild
after such notoriety?
The UNH CEO Forum welcomes Pillmore, senior vice president of corporate
governance, who will share the company’s strategy, outlining
the crises and challenges that faced the new management team in
mid-2002 as well as progress the company has made since then.
“Tyco’s Path to Becoming a World-Class Model of Corporate
Governance,” will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at the New
England Conference Center. Coffee and networking begins at 8 a.m.,
with a buffet breakfast served at 8:30 a.m. The program starts at
9 a.m.
Pillmore assumed the newly created position of senior vice president
of corporate governance for Tyco International in August 2002. He
previously served as senior vice president, CFO and secretary of
Multilink Technology Corporation. Prior to this service with Multilink,
Pillmore held a variety of leadership positions with General Instrument
and General Electric.
According to Tyco, the company believes that good governance requires
not only an effective set of specific practices, but also a culture
of responsibility throughout the firm. Recruiting and retaining
directors and officers of proven leadership and personal integrity
is essential, as is ensuring that all employees understand the company’s
core values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, and accountability.
The CEO Forum is a membership program designed for corporate executives
and senior managers. Nonmembers may attend for one-time membership
trial of $79. To register or to become a member of the CEO Forum,
call Barbara Draper at 2-1107, or e-mail her at barbara.draper@unh.edu.
The registration deadline is Thursday, Oct. 27.
Initiated in 1997, the CEO Forum is an outreach program of the UNH
Whittemore School of Business and Economics and the UNH Graduate
School serving CEOs, presidents, and senior managers of companies
in northern New England. The forum provides its members with opportunities
to meet and exchange ideas with their peers in business and industry
in an informal setting. The CEO Forum is sponsored by the law firm
of Pierce Atwood and Ocean National Bank. For more information about
the CEO Forum, visit http://www.unh-ceoforum.org.
