How Do You Want To Celebrate At Your University Holiday Party?

The University Holiday Party is just seven weeks away and this year, faculty and staff are being asked to provide their thoughts and suggestions about how they would like to celebrate at the event by completing an online survey.

The survey is available at http://FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?id=114366.

The survey was designed by students enrolled in HMGT 661 Meetings, Conventions and Events Management course taught by Joseph Durocher, associate professor of hospitality management. The class is assisting with planning the 2005 University Holiday Party set for Dec. 14 from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.

The course teaches students to strategically and logistically consider the planning, development, marketing, and implementation of managing meetings, conferences, conventions, and events. Assistance with planning the University Holiday Party will allow the students to gain a “hands-on” approach. The experience ensures the understanding of the proper techniques and tools required in executing a successful event or meeting.

Working with Susan Entz, director of Presidential Events and Programs, students have been subdivided into different managerial teams. “We’re delighted to help the class and they are already coming up with some great ideas,” Entz said.

The marketing team is conducting a survey to determine what, if any changes, faculty and staff would like to see at this year’s event. The valued responses to the survey will aid students and staff of the Office of the President as they plan the activities for this year’s holiday party. Input from the faculty and staff will be used by teams in charge of entertainment, food, facilities, and the budget for the event.

Several recommendations already are receiving serious consideration. They include a sky box cocktail bar and silent auction for charity, as well as suggestions for new entertainment and activities.

The short Internet survey is anonymous. The answers will be Yes or No answers, multiple choice answers, and open-ended questions. The survey is at http://FreeOnlineSurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?id=114366.
Faculty and staff are asked to respond to the survey as soon as possible to facilitate planning.
