Azumah, Fisher, Krog make up WAC Class of 2005

The UNH athletics department is proud to announce that three individuals will be inducted into the Wildcat Athletics Council Hall of Fame this year.

Jerry Azumah

Jerry Azumah (Football), Brandy Fisher (Women's Hockey) and Jason Krog (Men's Hockey), all of whom were named national Player of the Year in their respective sport, will make up this special three-member class. The Class of 2005 will be inducted Sunday, June 5 at the Whittemore Center. The social hour will begin at 6 p.m. and the dinner and program begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $75 and are available by calling Julie Appolloni at 2-3741. Sponsorship opportunities for this one time event are also available by calling Julie Appolloni. Jim Jeannotte, longtime radio voice of the UNH Sports Network, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Azumah won the 1999 Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in NCAA Div. I-AA football. Azumah led the Wildcats as a four-year starter breaking virtually every UNH rushing record. He was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and First-Team All-America in 1998 and became the all-time leading scorer, rusher and all-purpose yardage leader in NCAA Div. I-AA history in his senior campaign. Azumah finished his UNH career with 6,193 career rushing yards and 60 touchdowns, both of which are still school records. He also holds UNH's single-season rushing record with 2,195 yards and the single-game rushing mark with 329 yards. Azumah is only one of two players in Div. I-AA to ever to post four seasons of 1,000 rushing yards.

Brandy Fisher

Fisher, the all-time goal scorer in the history of UNH women's hockey with 129, was the 1998 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Winner as the top player in women's college hockey. Fisher amassed 240 points in her Wildcat career in 139 games, which ranks third on UNH's all-time scoring list. In her senior season she led the nation in all three statistical categories with a school-record 42 goals and 39 assists for a school-record 81 points and was named a First-Team All-America selection leading UNH to the 1998 AWCHA national championship. She was also named ECAC Player of the Year, an ECAC First-Team All-Star and was the New England Player of the Year in 1998.

Jason Krog

Krog led UNH to two Frozen Fours and one national championship game appearance as the 1999 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner. Krog was the first UNH player, along with Mark Mowers, to be named a finalist for the award and he was the first and only UNH player in the program's history to win the top honor in college hockey. Krog was a two-time All-American in 1997 and 1999 and ranks second on the Wildcat all-time scoring list with 238 points. Krog's 144 assists in his career is the best total in school history and his 94 goals rank fourth in the program's history. In his senior season, Krog led the Wildcats with 85 points, which is the third best mark in UNH hockey history. His 2.07 points per game led the nation and his goal and assist totals were also best among the national leaders. He was named Hockey East Player of the Year in 1999 and he was selected to the All-Hockey East Team in three of four seasons with the Wildcats.
