Armstrong
recognized as 2005 UNHM Adjunct Faculty Member

Jennifer Armstrong, an adjunct faculty member at UNH Manchester,
has received the 2005 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. Her work
was recognized at the college’s commencement May 17.
Armstrong began teaching at UNHM in 1997 and has taught more than
24 courses at the college including a number of philosophy courses.
In student course evaluations and in comments from her peers, Armstrong
is recognized for her compassion, a humanity that instills confidence,
and a commitment to support all students inher classes. “She
has the ability to make challenging material accessible to students,
including quantitative material such as logic,” noted a colleague.
In his nomination, Terry Savage, Humanities Program coordinator,
noted Armstrong’s dedication to her subject and to her students.
“Jen clearly expects a lot from her students and gives back
much in return.” He noted that she “has upheld the highest
standards of the university, both in terms of her consistent dedication
to academic excellence and student achievement, and in terms of
her dedication to the success of students as individuals.”
Armstrong earned an A.B. from Colby, and M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity
School, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts
at Amherst.
