| Employees
awarded money for great ideas
By Lori Wright, Media Relations
Do you have an idea that will save the university money? Know of
a way for UNH to be more efficient in its use of resources? If you
do, UNH wants to hear from you.
The university has launched the IDEA program, which rewards great
suggestions of ways to make more efficient use of UNH’s human,
informational, financial, natural, and/or other resources. It is
designed to encourage and reward employees who improve quality,
service, efficiency, image, and/or increase revenue or achieve financial
savings, and was started in response to UNH’s challenging
financial climate, which requires the utmost attentiveness to operational
effectiveness.
“We encourage you to think about the processes and products
of any and all operations with an eye toward efficiency and effectiveness
and to share with us your great IDEAS for ways we can do even better,”
UNH President Ann Weaver Hart said.
All university employees, staff (status and nonstatus) and faculty
(tenured and nontenured), are eligible for IDEA awards. Employees
are eligible if their idea is self-initiated and beyond the normal
scope of their job. Group IDEAs will also be accepted. Awards will
be from $50 to $1,000, depending on impact, value, and/or savings.
The program is supported by the OS, PAT, and EE councils, the Faculty
Senate, and the administration.
The program benefits the university because it improves services
and the efficiency of operations, enhances the university image,
increases employee commitment to UNH’s financial well-being,
provides financial savings to the university, and creates an opportunity
to focus on key processes/products and services that can be improved.
