UNHM hosts photography exhibit 'Northern India Immersion'

By Paula Galvin, UNHM College Relations Office

UNHM will host “Northern India Immersion,” a photography exhibit featuring work by the students of the Compass School who recently spent a month in Northern India. The photographs will be on display from April 1 to April 22 in the UNHM Library.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Students and teachers from Vermont’s Compass School traveled to India as part of the Global Connections Program. The program is designed to help participants learn about life of people of various religious and ethnic backgrounds through service work, home stays, and cultural immersion travel. The group spent two and a half weeks in Dharamsala, living with local Tibetan families and doing service work at a home for elders, at a school for refugee children, with a Tibetan human rights group and at plastic-tarp covered “school” in a camp for homeless children.
