| Seed
grants and faculty fellowships available from Carsey Faculty Research
Fund
The Carsey Institute announces the second round of the Carsey Faculty
Research Fund for 2004-2005, and invites applications from full-time
faculty (including tenure-track, research, clinical and extension
faculty) from any college or department at UNH. Funding will support
research in the behavioral, health, and social sciences that includes
interdisciplinary study. The center encourages policy-oriented research
on families and communities, defining policy broadly. However, any
strong interdisciplinary research project in the behavioral, health,
and social sciences is eligible for support.
Applications now being accepted for summer 2005 and fall semester
2005. Application cover sheet, and other guidelines are available
from the Carsey Institute (202 Hewitt Hall, Ext. 2-2821, Melanie
Higgins). The deadline for receipt of proposals is April 25, 4:30
pm. Proposals will be reviewed by members of the Carsey Institute
Advisory Committee. Awards will be announced by May 15, 2005 and
funds will be available for summer.
Both seed grants and faculty fellowships are available. Seed grants
from $3,000-$7,500 provide support for research costs, and faculty
fellowships provide release time from teaching, up to two courses
in a semester. An individual is permitted to apply for both awards;
however, only one submission per applicant to each program will
be accepted.
General criteria for awards are as follows:
-
Only full-time faculty (including tenure-track, research, clinical
and extension faculty) are eligible for awards.
- Projects
should include interdisciplinary work, or show how the support
will lead to an interdisciplinary research project proposal.
- Applicants
must use the seed grant funds or fellowship release time to develop
research proposals for external funding in the behavioral, health,
and social sciences.
- Policy-oriented
work on family or community issues is encouraged but not necessary
for funding.
-
Proposals should have a clear, focused research plan and scope
of work, and a budget.
-
Seed grant funds can be used for any purposes within the criteria,
and can be used for pilot projects, purchasing data sets, student
assistants, summer salary, etc.
