Art-Appeal,
an exhibition and art sale, will be held Friday, June 10, to Sunday,
June 12, 2005. Ceramics, paintings, prints, drawings, furniture,
sculpture, jewelry, and photographs will be among the many pieces
offered at the sale.
The sale, organized by members of The Art Gallery's Board of Advisors,
is one of the many events offered throughout the university’s
Alumni Reunion Weekend. Purchases will support both the production
and presentation of the visual arts in the region; 50 percent of
the proceeds go to the artists, with the remaining proceeds earmarked
for exhibitions and programs presented by The Art Gallery.
A sale preview and reception in honor of the artists will be held
Friday, June 10, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The sale begins immediately
following the reception, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., and continues
throughout the weekend: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday,
noon to 4 p.m.
Sales will be by cash or check only; credit cards will not be accepted.
A piece of jewelry, donated by Durham artist Valerie Sobel, will
be awarded to the winner of a weekend-long raffle.
