UNH Sponsors Series on Permaculture

Expanding upon the University of New Hampshire’s efforts in the area of agricultural sustainability, the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture will sponsor a series of lectures, workshops and design certification courses.
              
Permaculture draws together the diverse skills and ways of living which need to be rediscovered and developed in order to empower people to move from being dependent consumers to responsible producers.
              
The first lecture, "Permaculture Today, A Global View,” was presented Friday, July 22. The second lecture, "Introduction to Permaculture Design, Workshop," will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $50.
 
Guest lecturers for the permaculture design program Aug.6, are Julia and Charles Yelton, of Humustacia Permaculture Gardens in Whitefield, Maine, international Permaculture designers and teachers who have traveled and lectured throughout the world
 
The final lecture, "Permaculture Designer Certificate Course," will run
Saturday, May 27, 2006 (5 p.m.) to Saturday, June 11, 2006, (5 p.m.)The Permaculture Design Certification course is a two-week course leading to certification. The certification requirements, as defined by Permaculture International, include a minimum of 72 hours of classes, plus hands-on, practical exercises, fieldwork and completion of a design project.
