USNH Board of Trustees Approves Salary Increase

By Lori Wright, Media Relations

The USNH Board of Trustees has approved a salary increase for UNH faculty and staff, effective July 1, 2005.

Eligible UNH staff and non AAUP-Faculty in good performance standing will receive a 2 percent general increase effective July 1, 2005. In addition, UNH has established a pool of 1 percent for merit and market equity increases. Some employees will receive more or less than 1 percent from this pool.

Both increases will be reflected in the first academic pay periods: PAT staff will receive their increases Aug. 26, and operating staff will receive their increases Sept. 2. Increases will be retroactive to July 1, 2005.

Unionized UNH faculty will receive a 4.85 percent across the board salary increase in accordance with the third and final year of the current contract. According to Candace Corvey, vice president for finance and administration. “The current AAUP contract has brought our faculty salaries to parity with the relevant marketplace. We have that same goal for staff and while we are close, on average, we have some catch-up still to accomplish.”

According to a direct salary comparison to relevant markets conducted by USNH, there is a –4.4 percent market deficiency for PAT staff and a –2.9 percent deficiency for operating staff.

The broader scope of staff position types makes the analysis of their respective marketplaces more complex. However USNH continues to evaluate staff salaries to ensure that the system and UNH continues to move staff toward market parity. The UNH FY 06 salary guidelines are available on the Human Resources website at http://www.unh.edu/hr.
