Leave Policy info session is Aug. 24
An Information Session about the new Family Leave policy will be
held Wednesday, Aug. 24, noon to 1 p.m., MUB Theater I. HR has received
several questions from employees on this policy. They are encouraged
to attend this session to have their questions answered and receive
further clarification. Information on Family Leave is also available

UROP Information for Faculty
Faculty are asked to share the following informationwith students
about the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP). Information
sessions for students to learn more about how they can develop
a project, investigate a topic, and receive funding will be held
Tuesday, Oct. 25, 3:30-4:30 p.m., MUB Room 302; and Tuesday, Nov.
1, 1–2 p.m., MUB Room 332. Proposal writing workshops
are set for Wednesday, Sept. 21, 4-5:30 p.m., Rudman Hall, Room
381 (science and engineering methodology); Wednesday, Sept. 28,
4-5:30 p.m., Rudman Hall, Room 381 (science and engineering methodology);
Wednesday, Sept. 28, 4-5:30 p.m., Hood House Solarium (social science
methodology); and Thursday, Sept. 29, 4-5:30 p.m. MUB Room 302 (arts
and humanities; all students welcome). Application deadlines
are as follows: Undergraduate Research Award, Oct. 12, and March
1, 2006; SURF Abroad (for summer 2006), Dec. 14; SURF USA Deadline

Student Research Experience is available to faculty members
who may identify students to work with them on activities related

Faculty Forum is Aug. 30
Faculty are invited to join President Ann Weaver Hart at the
second Fall Faculty Forum to celebrate the start of a new academic
year Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 12:30 p.m., in Murkland Hall Richards
Auditorium. All faculty are invited to attend this forum, which
will begin with the president’s State of the University address,
outlining university achievements and future goals, and conclude
with an open discussion session with the president. Refreshments
will be served following the forum on Murkland Lawn. The campus
community is invited to President Hart’s public State of the
University address Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 12:30 p.m. in the MUB Strafford
Room. The Academic Convocation, featuring presentations by UNH faculty,
will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 12:30 - 2 p.m., in Murkland
Hall Richards Auditorium. The University Day picnic and activities
fair will follow that afternoon from 3:30–6 p.m. (08-11-05)

Staff grant deadline is Sept. 8
The next application deadline for the UNH Staff Professional Development
Grant is Sept. 8. The maximum award is $750. No more than
one grant will be awarded per person during a 12-month period. The
Staff Professional Development Grant Program provides the opportunity
for EE, OS, and PAT staff to attain new skills or knowledge in a
manner that will enhance a staff member's performance or eligibility
for promotion and be of specific benefit to the department, college,
university and/or university system. Such opportunities might include
conferences, workshops and seminars, both on and off campus; academic
courses not offered within the university system; travel and accommodations
for off campus courses, workshops; and special projects, including
but not limited to research and publication. For additional information/criteria

CSDC has openings for 4-year-olds, kindergartners
The UNH Child Study and Development Center (CSDC) is accepting applications
for limited openings in the Preschool II program for 4-year-olds
and the full-day kindergarten, which will begin in late August.
CSDC is nationally accredited through NAEYC and offers sliding scale
tuition for UNH students and benefits eligible employees. The kindergarten
