Enjoy twilight at Woodman Farm

Do you ever wonder what’s growing at UNH’s Woodman Horticultural Farm?

Come see and taste during a UNH Cooperative Extension Twilight event on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. UNH Cooperative Extension specialists and UNH faculty will be on hand to discuss their research and answer questions.

Research projects include pumpkin and squash breeding, cut flower trials, no-pinch garden mums, apple IPM research, colored bell pepper varieties, edamame (vegetable soy) varieties, snackseed pumpkins and field-grown tomatoes.

UNH Cooperative Extension Specialists Alan Eaton (IPM & entomology), Becky Grube (sustainable horticulture), George Hamilton (tree fruit), Cathy Neal (ornamentals), and Cheryl Smith (plant health), will be joined by UNH faculty Brent Loy (plant genetics) and Tom Davis (plant genetics).

A special event will be the unveiling of a new classroom at Woodman Farm, the Otho Wells Room. Wells is a retired UNH Cooperative Extension specialist. Refreshments, featuring Woodman Farm’s own fruit, will be available.

Directions to Woodman Farm: From Route 4, take the exit for Rt. 155A/Whittemore Center/UNH. Turn right onto 155A, left onto Mast Rd. Ext., left onto Okane Rd., and right onto Spinney Lane. For more information, please contact Cheryl Estabrooke at 2-3200.
