Music Department presents Symphonic Band and NH Youth Concert Band May 5

The Department of Music presents the UNH Symphonic Band under the direction of Nicholas Orovich and the New Hampshire Youth Concert Band under the direction of Mark DeTurk and Erika Svanoe, in concert Thursday, May 5, at 8 p.m. in the Johnson Theatre of the Paul Creative Arts Center.

The New Hampshire Youth Concert Band is made up of talented high school students from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, who meet on Sunday afternoons in order to prepare music above and beyond what is offered in their own school. Gabe Cohen will guest conduct.

The Symphonic Band will perform “Prelude” and “Fugue in B Flat Minor”, a Bach composition transcribed by R. L. Moehlmann, “Blue Shades” by Frank Tichelli and conducted by Mark DeTurk, and “The Four Horsemen” composed by UNH Faculty member, Andrew Boysen, Jr.
