Violinist Frank Huang to perform at Celebrity Series May 2
Violinist Frank Huang, accompanied by Fellow Juilliard graduate
Carol Wong, will perform at the Celebrity Series Monday, May 2,
at 8 p.m. in the Johnson Theatre, Paul Creative Arts Center.
Frank Huang, first-prize winner of the 2003 Naumburg Foundation's
Violin Competition and the 2000 Hannover International Violin Competition,
is well on his way toward a major career as a violin virtuoso. This
accomplished young artist has occupied the competition winner's
circle consistently since the age of 15. At 11, he performed with
the Houston Symphony Orchestra in a nationally broadcast concert
and has since performed with orchestras throughout the world, including
the Cleveland Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony, NDR-Radio Philharmonic
Orchestra of Hannover, Amadeus Chamber Orchestra and the Genoa Orchestra.
Huang, a deeply committed chamber musician, has attended the Marlboro
Music Festival, Ravinia's Steans Institute and the Caramoor Festival.
He recently was selected by the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society
to perform regularly at Alice Tully Hall as part of the highly prestigious
CMS II program. Huang studied with Robert Mann at The Juilliard
School, Donald Weilerstein at the Cleveland Institute of Music,
and with Fredell Lack.
His program for the Celebrity Series will include sonatas by Tartini,
Prokofiev, Ysaÿe, and Ravel.
Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 faculty/staff and senior
citizens, $5 for UNH students, are available at the MUB Ticket Office
