Hubbard series hosts 'The Fishes of the Galapagos Islands' April 21

The Leslie S. Hubbard Marine Science Lecture Series welcomes naturalist and author Jack Stein Grove who will discuss "The Fishes of the Galapagos Islands Thursday, April 21.

The event will be held at 4 p.m. in MUB Theatre I. Refreshments will be served at 3:45 p.m.

Grove is one of the leading authorities on the marine life of Ecuador’s Galapagos Archipelago. During this seminar, he will discuss the trails and tribulations experienced during the 20 years of research and writing he dedicated to the ichthyofauna of this World Heritage site. His seminar will also draw on his expertise on tropical transpacific shore fishes, a topic on which he recently co-authored a paper in the journal Pacific Science.

Grove is a research associate at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and award-winning underwater photographer. In 2002, he was one of 57 scientists invited by the World Conservation Union to participate in a conference in Hanoi to discuss a strategy for the preservation of marine biodiversity.

When not traveling, Jack manages his own photography business in the Florida Keys, where he resides with his wife Paulina. We hope you’ll be able to join us on April 21 to learn from this aspiring marine biologist, why the Galapagos remain as one of the world’s most treasured environments, both above and below the surface of the sea.

The series is co-sponsorsed by the UNH Marine Program and The Seacoast Science Center.
